Worked example: how does risk-budget quantity work?
For a hypothetical long plan with entry ₹100, stop-loss ₹95, target ₹110 and risk budget ₹1,000, risk per share is ₹5 and potential reward per share is ₹10. Dividing the budget by risk per share and rounding down gives 200 shares, with a 2:1 reward-to-risk ratio.
The arithmetic gives ₹1000 planned risk and ₹2000 potential reward. Fees, taxes, slippage, liquidity and price gaps are excluded, so actual outcomes can differ and losses can exceed the planned amount. This example selects no stock, predicts no return and creates no broker order.
