Which 2026 holidays fall on a weekend?

These 4 holidays fall on a Saturday or Sunday, when the market is closed anyway, so they add no extra closures. Diwali Laxmi Pujan is the exception that adds trading: NSE opens for the Muhurat session that Sunday afternoon.

Stock market holidays 2027

NSE has not yet published its trading holidays for 2027. It notified the 2026 list on 12 December 2025, so the 2027 list is likely around the middle of December 2026. This page will list the 2027 dates and add a 2027 calendar file as soon as NSE publishes them.

Are BSE, currency and commodity markets closed on the same days?

  • Equity derivatives (F&O) on NSE: the same 16 dates as the cash market.
  • BSE: publishes its own holiday list; its equity holidays normally match NSE's.
  • Currency derivatives on NSE: also closed on 19 February, 19 March, 1 April and 26 August 2026.
  • Commodity derivatives on NSE: also closed on 1 January 2026.

What happens to orders, alerts and settlement on a market holiday?

  • No exchange trading: orders cannot reach the exchange. Most brokers accept after-market orders (AMO), which they send in the next pre-open session.
  • Settlement: settlement runs on working days, so a trade made just before a holiday settles on the next working day after it.
  • GTT orders and price alerts: both depend on live prices, so nothing triggers while the market is shut. They are checked again when trading resumes, and a gap at the open can trigger them away from your exact level.
  • StockNotify alerts: stay saved and armed over holidays and weekends, and start checking prices again from the next session. Set them up from NSE stock alerts.

How do you add NSE holidays to Google Calendar or Outlook?

  1. Download the 2026 holiday calendar file (.ics) with the button at the top of this page.
  2. Google Calendar: open Settings, choose Import & export, select the file and pick the calendar to add it to.
  3. Outlook: open the file, or use File → Open & Export → Import/Export → Import an iCalendar (.ics) file.
  4. Apple Calendar: double-click the file, or use File → Import.

Each trading holiday is an all-day event. Muhurat trading is added as a timed event on 8 November, so your calendar shows the afternoon session instead of a full-day closure.
